Day 1 - Vancouver, BC to Seaside, OR

July 15th 2009
We left Vancouver a bit late today. The border wait was about 10 minutes at the Peace Arch Crossing into Blaine, Washington. Stopped quickly at Bellis Fair in Bellingham for coffee. Needed that. Weather was great leaving Canada, and well past Seattle. We stopped for gas and lunch just before Tacoma. Hit Patches of fog between Tacoma and Olympia. All of that was on the I-5 Highway. Took the 101 towards the coast, and drover over the astoria bridge. It's a 4km bridge that raises up on the one side. I believe it is a pretty old bridge.. ohh and apparently the waters underneath are shark infested. Melanie was too occupied with taking pictures to realize she was on a long bridge.

Made it to Seaside shortly after that (4pm) checked into our Hotel, Hillside Inn. Staying in our $35 room, which is pretty small, but not uncomfortable. Seaside is nice, it's everything you want in a beach town: candy stores, pubs, hotels, boardwalk, arcade, fair. Almost too perfect. Hotel staff is VERY nice and accomodating, even though we have the cheapo room! Quite foggy here, but it did clear up for a little bit. Apparently people are allowed to make fires on the beach here. Tomorrow we are heading down the Oregon coast, ending up at Gold Beach before crossing into California.
